His Secret

That's my cousin who's turning 7 in a few months time. The other night, I was talking to him before he went to sleep... and I managed to dig out a little secret from him!

Me: So, how's your class? Are your friends all boys?
Cousin: No, got boys and girls.
Me: Ooh... any pretty girls in your class?
Cousin: Yeahh.. got.
Me: What's her name?
Cousin: Sarah..
Me: Do you like her?
Cousin: Yeah. (so confidently)
Me: Why do you like her?
Cousin: Because... she's pretty.
Me: So you like her because she's pretty?
Cousin: Yeah lo.
Me: Does she like you?
Cousin: Yes. (super confident, again)
Me: Are you sure? How you know she likes you?
Cousin: Because she don't talk to other boys. She only talks to me.
Me: But that doesn't mean she likes you right? Maybe she just doesn't have any friends. Haha.
(potong his steam abit)
Cousin: No... she very fierce wan. That's why other people don't like her.
Me: But you like her?
Cousin: Yeah. She pretty.
Me: How about the other girls in your class?
Cousin: Hmmm... they all not as pretty as Sarah. Sarah's hairband very nice.
Me: ??? Oh. You mean her hairband very pretty is it?
Cousin: Her face also. Oh yea, she always give me things wan.
Me: Like what? Sweets?
Cousin: Yeah. And last time she gave me a watch.. got alot of colors wan.. then got light also. I kept it somewhere but now I forgot where I keep.
Me: Why keep? Wear it la.
Cousin: I don't want my mother to know...
Me: So is Sarah your girlfriend?
Cousin: Yea
Me: (wth?) Eh, you know what does girlfriend mean or not? It's like you must ask her to be your girlfriend then if she accepts, she is your girlfriend. Did you do that?
Cousin: Err... no.
Me: Good. You're still 6 years old. Better don't get a girlfriend yet. After your mother will chop your head off.
Cousin: Yeah. After I cannot see Sarah anymore.
Me: 0.o

Oh my god. He's lovesick. And he's only 6 and a half!!!! I can totally see him growing up to be a heart-breaker one day. Lol. He's good looking.
Kids these days.

Oh well, I started liking boys when I was 4 years old anyway =p Record broken.

Stop and Stare

If ever McD needs a new ad, they could use these fine models. Guaranteed to snatch the public's attention ;)

Watched Tom & Jerry? Cats like Tom. Dogs prefer Jerry.

In desperation, dogs do pray.

When a dog is depressed, it may want to kill itself.

I hope that made you smile, cuz it certainly did for me. =)

Something cute I heard the other day: A smile is a curve that can set things straight.

So, SMILE!

Never Give Up

Remember what I said about failing to get the dumb contact lens into my eye yesterday? I mean, I spent a whole hour there with my mom (who sacrificed her cooking time just to accompany me) trying to insert one piece of lens into my left eye, but it didn't go in anyway. I left the shop feeling pissed at everything: the stupid lens, the optician, the shop, and myself. I decided to come back in a few months time when I felt like I had enough patience to tolerate contact lenses and... myself.
Today in college, Kennard gave me lessons on how to wear contact lessons, the
Kennard way. I watched him widen his eye and rapidly pop the soft lens into it. He made it look so easy. I was tempted to go back to the optician and try on the contact lenses again.

Kenn: See this? It's an eye. O.o

So after college, I told my mom I wanted to go back to the shop to try the lenses. (eagerness)
Mom: I can take you there after 4.
Me: What are you doing before 4?
Mom: TV. 3 to 4 pm.
Me: Now's not even 3... it's only 2.
Mom: You'll surely take more than 1 hour. By the time you finish putting your lens in, it'll be dinner time.
Me: .......

Oh well. Smart woman. Knows how to manage her time properly =.=
Anyway, I should be totally grateful she agreed to take me to the shop once again, and the optician there was grinning from ear to ear when he saw me.

Man: Oh hi, you're back! I thought you said you didn't want to put on contacts for the next few months?
Me: Yeah. I did. But I changed my mind.

So I sat down and this time, I spent nearly an hour to put one lens into my eye. I chose hazel just for the fun of it. The minute the lens went into my eye, my eye burned like crazy. It became so red and watery and I couldn't open it for the next few minutes. It was real pain for a single eye to bear. At that spur of moment when my eyes started to burn, I had a panicking thought that I was going to go blind. o.O

About 5 minutes after I'd inserted the hazel lens in.

Apparently, according to the optician who wouldn't stop laughing, it happens to almost everybody when they first start wearing contacts. Phew. Just checkin'.

Later on, I decided to try brown because it's a more natural color, and it took me about 15 minutes or so to pop it in.
And once again, my eye stung like hell.

It's not yellow. It's brown.
But it looked pretty much like the hazel lens, so I had a hard time debating between both of them. Anyway, I was overjoyed because I finally managed to get the lenses in!!! I probably took like 1 hour and 15 minutes to get both lenses in, but who cares?? I finally got them in and that was all that matter - at that moment.
Then not too long after that, I realized that I was going to have to get them out.

Oh shit.

The optician said it was going to be easy. Boy, he was wrong!
I think I took 30 minutes trying to get them out. =( I think putting them in is so much easier! It scared me when he said: U open your eye, then you pinch the lens out.
Pinch is a dangerous term when it comes to the eye. What if you ter-pinch your eyeball??
But apparently, according to the optician (again), such things never happen. So yeah, I was just being paranoid, as usual.

I ordered the brown lenses, and left the shop with my mom. I think all of us - including the optician - were totally relieved that I'd finally crossed the stage of being able to insert the lenses in and take them out.

Moral of story:

Contact lenses are freaky.

You gotta be extremely patient to be an optician, which I don't have to worry about cuz that's not my ambition

Never give up. With strong determination, no matter what it takes, it'll be worth what you strived for.

It doesn't have to be a big thing, you know. It could be something as small as... contacts :)

Lol I've written enough crap for a day. I need to study for my upcoming exams now. Peace.

Dumb Contacts

I went to the optician earlier to get contact lenses. I was soo confident and excited about it, but the minute I tried to put it on, things went downhill from there. I spent like, 1 hour in the shop trying so hard to get that delicate piece of plastic or whatever it’s made of into my left eye, but each time the rim of the lens touched my eye, I blinked and the lens would fall off. It’s so hard to not blink okay? I kept trying until my eye was all watery and red and tired so I had to stop and I told the guy I’d come back another time when I have the whole day to spare. Damnn.

Indescribable

Whenever I feel lost, I know that I have someone big to lean on and surrender all my worries to. He is so big that He created the entire universe, the solar system, the earth, and us.
And to think that this big guy who created the grandest and most spectacular things I could've ever dreamed of, would actually care to feel my pain and reach out to me... He just continues to blow my mind away each time I think of Him and the great things He's done.
Time to time, I question myself: Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth would care to know my name, and care to feel my hurt?
And then the answer strikes: Not because of who I am, not because of what I've done. But because of what He's done, and because of who He is.
And for that, He is my everything, and nothing in this world can ever measure up to how much I love Him and adore Him, for mere words will never be enough to describe how great He is. He is and will always be indescribable.

Bomb in College

I've finally found something to blog about. College life has been interesting so far despite the crazy workloads and assignments, but today was just one of those really interesting days that I'd remember for the rest of my years. I was on my way back from lunch when there was a massive road block outside Taylors College, so my friend who was driving the car called his friend and found out that the whole of Inti had been evacuated just minutes ago because there supposedly was a bomb planted somewhere within the college.
All the students and staff had to leave the building at once, and most of them left their belongings inside the college because they had no time to grab their stuff. People were crowding outside the college and when I phoned my friend, the first thing I got was: Oh! Thank God you're alive!!! We waited outside the college for almost 30 minutes. I took a couple of snapshots (just to blog about it)

Pretty bad view. XD Sorry.
Took it from Asia Cafe. As you can see, it was really crowded.

A rather blurry shot... (what's happening to my k750i?) whatever. they sealed the entrance to the college while pending the arrival of the Bomba people and the bomb squad.

That's the Bomba car. The driver just parked it in the middle of the road so there was a major jam behind it and no one could pass through. They arrived like 10 minutes later.

What was funny about this was that everyone seemed extremely calm and even excited about the whole commotion of having a bomb planted in the college. (I was one of them) We've heard about such cases happening in the United States and the students there would be fleeing for safety - but maybe Malaysians are just more of the curious species. Students stood at the brim of the roadside, taking pictures of the college and some could even eat waffles at that point. Then the principle and the policemen were standing outside the college, talking to each other as though having a bomb buried in the college was just as minor as having a small case of AEDES infection. Then when the Bomba guys arrived, they even had time to "salam" each other and shake hands!! (maybe they felt like this was the last and final meeting) And they were smiling. Like this =D Crazy. But anyway my friends and were standing there laughing most of the time lah. Lol.
I don't know what happened after that because I left to play foozball in AC.. haha. But when I came out again, the bomb was still not found. Apparently, the police got a call from an anonymous person claiming that there was a bomb placed in the college. So for everyone's safety, they had to evacuate the entire building. Interesting. I don't know if it was a hoax, but it seemed serious. This might even make it to the papers one day! XD

Happy CNY 2008

It's that time of the year again. Fireworks, chinese music, cookies, all the jolly hustling and bustling about and the awaited Red Packets. That's the only thing I've always fancied about Chinese New Year. I'm leaving for Negeri Sembilan in 30 minutes and I only finished my packing 10 minutes ago. (got lectured by my parents for the last minute packing, obviously =D ) To which I habitually retorted: At least I still managed to get it done!! Yesterday, my mom baked some almond cookies so I decided to help out... and try a few new thingies on my own.

Original version of almond cookies

The new version made by me.

Hey, baking is all about having fun and being creative. So I decided to add some chocolate chips into the cookies and mold them into various shapes. My brother said the top ones looked like poop. o.O Thanks for the comment, dude. I love you.

Yesterday, we went to visit my relatives in Brickfields and I saw my paralyzed cousin sister, Ting Ting. She's a darling. My heart reaches out for her every single time I look at her. It was not her fault that she was born with a brain damage and has to live dependent on her parents' support and nurture 24/7. She's turning 16 this year, and I'm so sure she'd give anything in the world to have a normal life like everyone else.
That's my uncle Lee Sheng Chow (the Malaysian paralympic champion for "lontar peluru") and.. he's blind. But his love for his daughter is never-failing. And seeing them just makes me want to cry. God has a reason for why this has to happen to them, but nevertheless, everyone around them loves them so much. I know that He's got a great plan in store for my uncle and my dear cousin.

And with that, I really need to leave now. Have a Wonderful Chinese New Year!
hugs and kisses.
