First Time In History

I drove a car. Woot! :D

On Saturday, June and I went for our driving lecture in Shah Alam. After spending 3 excruciatingly long hours in the lecture room, our instructor took us for lunch and then he explained the car parts to us. Tehcnical stuff. Like, what does the radiator do, how to check for the black oil, etc. Then I asked if he could let us test-drive the car. And he agreed!! :)

Having never driven a car before, I was rather excited. Manual cars are so mafan. I kept forgetting to balance the clutch with the accelerator and the brake. So when I started the car, I accidentally zoomed forward. When it was time to stop the car, I braked properly but lifted up my foot too quickly from the clutch pedal, so the car jerked to a halt. Not a very nice feeling. I think I nearly gave my instructor a heart attack. Hahaha. Plus he had to remind me to "slow down" on the road. He wouldn't allow me to go above 20 km/h. :(

One hour was up so quickly. June and I protested for another round but our instructor said NO. "Petrol almost empty," was his excuse. Lol. I've gotta wait until this Saturday for my FIRST lesson hehe. I'm so excited. :P

The Last Day

Warning: This is going to be a long entry.

I'm so sorry for the extremely late update. I don't normally abandon my blog for a week. But lately, I've been struggling to find the right time to update. Today was the final day of college for me, and that marks the end of my third semester here as an AUP student. I don't know what college life will be like next year in 2009... I have a feeling that things are going to be very different.

Anyway, did I mention that my new Public Speaking lecturer is like the best lecturer ever?! Lol. She's really funny and bubbly and she even took the time to buy us a big chocolate cake yesterday! Aww, I'm sure we'll definitely miss you, Miss VG!! :) And thanks for everything.
There were lots of camwhoring and photo sessions, but Blogger's been such an ass so I'm not going to upload all the pictures here. It'll take me days I tell you.

May Chong, me and Qian Ning.

Ah, how fast time flies. It's like one day you're a new student in college and the next day, you're already a senior. Lol. I still miss my freshie days early in the year. I was so new to everything and everyone. College life came as a big excitement. I thought it was the best thing ever. Haha. Well, that excitement slowly faded away as the assignments piled up and the exams drew near. Soon, I began to see another side of myself; the stressful part of me. I guess the best part of college would be the people... because they're the ones who influence your college life. I've found some great friends in college and I'm really glad that we met. =)

Haha. Basically - everyone that I met this year has added some color into my life =p So, yeah. I really thank you awesome peeps for that!!

Anusha and I.
Camwhored like mad today. :P

SILENCE! I KILL YOU! 0.0
Anuuuu! This was supposed to be the "freaky" pic.
She went and smile pulak. LOL. Wasted my effort for looking freaky.

I've been through lots of ups and downs this year. Lol. Even I think I'm quite unpredictable sometimes. I'll never know when I'll feel really happy, or really down. There were just days when I'd feel on top of the world and contented with everything around me, but yet there were days when I felt like crawling under the blanket and staying away from the world. But like every other year, I've discovered new things and every mistake is a lesson learned. I won't forget that!
Starbucks. My guilty pleasure.
What a quick way to burn your cash =D

College life this year has been an adventure.
Actually, it's probably one of the best adventures I've ever experienced.
The holidays have started but my finals are coming up soon. Daymnn. Looks like I'll be plunged into another busy week.

The fun times... the dumb times... the bitter times... the random times... I'll miss them all!
Aww. Camera shy again! :D

Oh, before I forget, I'm thinking of starting a little photo-blog soon. I tried www.aminus3.com, but they said my pictures are TOO BIG so it looks like I'll have to use either blogspot or some other blog with generously ample space. I don't get what's so BIG about the pictures. Most of them are only like 600 KB. =.=" (Well to be honest, I've been into photography for quite some time but just never got the chance to study the subject or test my skills a lot. So I just take random pictures of objects or places once in a while when the mood strikes. It's just a hobby :D )

The Cross.

Through The Tunnel.

Along The Lines.

What do you think of the 3 last pics? Honestly, I'd LOVE to hear your opinions. Feel free to leave comments. (Even if they suck, TELL ME!)

By the way, I feel like getting a pet. Obviously I can't get a dog or a cat since I live in an apartment, and I can't get a hamster either because my mom hates rats. The last pet I had was little blue Miku the fighting fish.

He died last year. Lasted for 3 weeks only. Lousy. I'm not getting another fighting fish. Such weaklings. =p

Since I have ample time on my hands now, let me tell you a story of the previous pets that I had.
This has nothing to do with today's entry title. Once I start to blog, it's quite hard to stop typing. I don't know why. Maybe I'm just lazy to get off the chair.
So anyway. I rared tortoises, fishes and even chickens before.

When I was 9 years old, I bought a small green tortoise and named her Mayonnaise. Please don't ask me why my pets have funny names. They just do.
She was a little darling. I played with her all the time... I even took out my old doll house and placed her there, thinking she'd like it but she pooped all over the plastic furniture so in the end, I placed her back into the glass tank. One day when I came home from church, I noticed that the glass tank was empty. Alarmed, I searched the whole house until I found her. She was in the toilet =/ God knows how she got there.
I had her for 2 years... I watched her grow into this really big tortoise, until she was too big to be placed in the tank. My mom joked that she would cut it up into pieces and serve tortoise meat for dinner. =.=" When I was 11, my family and I brought her to the big lake and released her there. And... she swam happily into the water. Never to be seen again.

And the chickens.. yeah. People find it hard to believe that I kept two chickens in my balcony. I'm serious! Many years ago, before I had the tortoise, I'd been pestering my parents for a pet. Eventually, one of my aunts asked if I was interested in raring chicks. She said she had two baby chickens with her, and I thought she was referring to chicks. Chicks are so cute... so I said yes.
How was I to know that her "baby chickens" were actually TEENAGE chickens?! They weren't cute little yellow chicks. These were like full-grown chickens, except they were smaller in size. There was a male and a female. I called the guy Cock and the girl Pock because she had spots all over her body, like chicken pocks. The female was fine but the male was a bloody cock. Every time I reached into the cage to carry the female, the male would start clawing at my hand. Soon, I got scared of my own chickens. Besides, they were getting smelly because obviously, you can't bathe chickens.
My mother said that if I didn't give them away, she would cook them. =.= Rather than allowing them to fall into the greedy hands of my mother, I decided to give them to my grandmother. So that was the end of the chicken story.

Way back into time, my uncle gave me two tiny goldfish in a ceramic bowl. They were fat and puffy and my brother always joked that he felt like squeezing their cheeks. Every time he said that, I'd retort, "You dare?!"
One day, I came back and saw that the ceramic bowl was empty.
"Eh, where's the fish?" I asked.
My brother emerged and quietly said, "Jie... I have something to tell you..."
From his expression, I knew that I'd never see those two babies again.
So he explained that as he was cleaning out the fishbowl, he tried to get the fish out but accidentally killed them in the process.
Me: You mean they fell on the floor and died?
Bro: No. I tried to take them out from the fishbowl using my fingers.
That was the most ridiculous thing I'd ever heard.
Part of me wanted to yell at him for being so dumb (what to do, he was only four) and part of me wanted to laugh at him for being so dumb.

Upon hearing that, my mother said, "Aiyah. If I knew this would happen, I would've cooked them first."
=.= She always says that about my pets. Even last year when I had Miku, she joked that she wanted to fry him.

Thank you for reading this really long entry. Hahaha. I'm sorry for wasting your time like that. Don't say I didn't warn you! =D It's just... I haven't blogged in so long and words and images just keep popping up into my head.
It's actually to make up for the days that I won't be blogging. I'm having my finals soon, you see, so I think I won't be blogging for a week or so.

On a different note, I've got the 6 hour driving lecture tomorrow... save me! =(

PS: I haven't been able to read the msgs in my chatbox. There seems to be an error with my connection over here. Sorry. Will try to get it fixed as soon as possible.

Undang

The clock kept on ticking as the minutes dragged by.
I scanned the brightly-lit waiting room where about a dozen other people were waiting impatiently for their names to be called. All of us were here today for the same reason; to take the Undang exam. I was glad that I had June with me, because if it wasn't for her, I would have died of boredom. You see, the computers were undergoing some technical problems so all of us had to wait in the waiting room until they were fixed. But what really annoyed me were the lazy facilitators! They could've saved us our time if only they'd tackled the problem with efficiency. June and I had to wait for THREE FREAKING HOURS before we could take the exam. Those lousy facilitators just took their own sweet time. One of them was seated behind his desk with his fingers on the keyboard the whole time. He did not look alarmed or embarrassed that he had to keep all of us waiting. The other guy was calmly walking in and out of the room... I don't know wth he was doing. But come on. THREE HOURS?!! =.="
And then a miracle occured; the computers were magically fixed! The guy behind the desk began calling out names and one by one, the people around me left their seats and went forward. That was when I realized something.

Me: June... you know that little card they gave us last time when we went for our 5 hour lecture?
June: Yeah, why?
Me: Do we need it for the exam?
June: Yeah. Why?
Me: I think I lost it.

She showed more signs of panic than I did. Anyway, there was nothing I could do now since we were already here... and sooner or later our names were going to get called. When it was my turn and the guy asked me for that card, I told him I didn't have it with me. He paused for a while, and I had a sinking feeling that he was going to say, "No card, no exam. Get lost."
But of course, he wasn't that mean :) Instead, he said, "Oh, nevermind. Gimme your smart card." So I passed him my IC and I was also forced to pay RM10 for the impromptu photoshoot =/ All of us had to. Then I went into the room for the exam.

And after 20 minutes... I was done!! June was just beside me and she finished a few minutes earlier than I did. She passed :) Then it was my turn... the results popped out on the screen and I just stared at the score for like 10 seconds. I didn't see any "LULUS". Neither did I see a "Tahniah". All I saw was this:

43.

Then June whispered, "Congrats,you passed!!"
And in my mind I was thinking, "WAH! I almost failed!!"
42's the passing mark, right? Haha. I was lucky. I just managed to scrape the surface.
Our instructor came to fetch us back to Subang. In the car, he was telling us that one of his best students failed his road test for the first time, although he was really good. And that was because he refused to bribe. When he went back for his second time, he bribed and he scored one of the highest points after that.
I asked if it was possible to pass without bribing. My instructor said no.

Me: But then it's not fair! How can those examinors be so ruthless?
Instructor: Hahaha. What do you expect? Malaysians ma. Of course la!

I guess most people bribe when they don't have a choice. It does sound logical because instead of wasting your cash knowing that they might probably fail you anyway, you pay an extra RM200 to get it OVER and DONE with. I don't blame them.

But then some of my friends did not bribe and yet they passed.

So? At the end of the day, it depends on the examinor himself. If I'm unlucky, he'll be a greedy gold digger. If i'm lucky, he'll be a nice man with enough dignity NOT to ask for a bribe.
Honestly. Examinors who force their students to bribe them are pathetic. They might as well just include it in the whole driving package fees. 0.o

I'm going for the 6-hour lecture next Saturday with darling Junie again. But a few days after that I'll be having my finals :( I think I'm going to have to secretly study for my finals during the 6 hours there. Lol. Who actually listens during the lecture, right? :D

NanO

The brand new Apple Ipod Nano.
Vivid Colors

For precise features, click here:
Nano

Of course, there's so much more to the ipod than just gorgeous colors and good music quality.
I've got my eye on the purple one. *wishes hard that I'll get it before I leave for the States*

Logically, I could always buy it if I go to the States because these gadgets are always cheaper there, except what will I do during the 24 hour journey on the plane?! Exactly! That's why it's better to get it before I leave for the States :)

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that it's super slim.

It's the best damn thing I've ever seen. ;)

The New Craze

You know that cute game on Facebook, Pet Society?

Almost everyone's playing it. Even guys who once said it looked like Hello Kitty have now created their own pets and are frantically trying to top each other for who has the most trophies, the most friends, etc.

Coming from guys who only played Dota, Perfect World and Travian... this is just too cute to watch! :)

The mini race among other pets.

Shopping for pet clothes.

Hey, don't laugh! I mean, what's wrong about it? So what if the pets resemble Hello Kitty? They're cute. Besides, each pet has a little home which you can furnish when you have enough cash. You can pop by your other friends' homes and send them a greeting or a gift. What a great way to communicate and show some love, right? :P

Exactly ;)

The Holiday

I'm back!

I think I've said this before: I plan to migrate to Singapore after I graduate.
And I still feel that way. I don't really intend to launch into a speech comparison on how Singapore differs from Malaysia because most of us already know the vast differences; so I'll just leave it as it is.

Common HDB flats

I don't have much time to blog because I still need to prepare my speech for tomorrow's Public Speaking presentation; and I still have no clue what to talk about. Believe me, I've spent days thinking about it and nothing applicable has crossed my mind!

On our first night there, my uncle took all of us out to his golf club for dinner. We had a feast of exquisite Chinese dishes. I (being who I am) took out my camera to take some pictures of the place and the food because I wanted to add them to my blog. Fortunately I managed to take a quick shot of some of the dishes before I had to keep my camera away. Haha, if you knew me well, you'd know that I'm always trying to take pictures of things just for memory, or, to blog about.

Dinner was delicious. For dessert, the adults ordered the Chinese fried redbean pancake and mango puddings. One of them ordered a deep-fried ice cream for himself. He loves food, and despite my grandmother complaining that "Fried ice cream is like fire and ice; they're unhealthy to be taken together", he went ahead and finished the whole thing up. Lol. After dinner, my relatives went for a karaoke session. It was my first time, actually. =) Initially they all were singing old Chinese songs which I didn't know how to sing. So I just listened... drank my drink... and listened... until I nearly dozed off. Then out of nowhere, they chose "Hero" by Enrique Iglesias and asked me to sing. Not wanting to be a spoilsport, I took the mike and sang. Haha. I won't say that I'm a good singer; and I thank God that it was just within my family. If I had to sing like that in front of my friends, I'd die of humiliation, probably :)

Look at the amount of drinks!

As for shopping, I visited a three malls in total; but didn't really purchase much. The season for sales had long gone and the first two malls that I went to were almost empty. =.= On the second night, my relatives suggested something totally extraordinary.
It was after dinner when one of them said, "Let's go to Geylang and look at the China chickens."
In my mind, I was wondering, "China chickens? Who knows if they're contaminated too?" but verbally, I said, "We just had dinner."
They all started laughing.
That was when I realized it wasn't real chicken they were talking about.
They were talking about prostitutes. In Chinese, they're called "kai" which also refers to "chicken".
So I was like WTH I didn't come to Singapore to look at prostitutes! But my relatives said that the China prostitutes were exceptionally gorgeous compared to the 'normal' ones. It's such a waste that they ended up as prostitutes on the dingy streets of Geylang.

So that night itself, we took a drive to Geylang... to see the prostitutes. I still can't believe I'm typing this here. Hahaha. Two of my uncles were in front, and two of my aunts at the back, with my mom and I, and my two little cousins (aged 5 and 7) with us. We weren't the only ones who'd gone there just to take a look at the prostitutes. I think there were heaps of other people who purposely drove by or walked by just to have a look themselves. Lol. And really - the China girls were a sight. They were tall and fair and slim and clad in almost nothing at all. I think what really attracted people to linger at their side was because they looked like GT race queens. They were lined up in a long row, reaching out to men who walked by. They were like promoters, except they were promoting themselves. There were even young girls who looked as though they were only sixteen or seventeen! OMG. As we drove past, I saw a very young Chinese prostitute with an elderly man. I think he was a Bangladeshi or something. 0.o It's really such a pity that these girls are forced into prostitution.

There were pimps everywhere. One pimp was gripping the arm of a man, forcing him to take a look at the prostitutes. The man was obviously uninterested and tried to get away but then two other pimps came up and began talking to him. Desperados. Oh yeah, there were even homosexual transvestites there. Haha, and I thought they only existed in Thailand. Mind you, I saw one of the gay prostitutes wearing a really nice black MNG blouse. While my relatives were checking out the prostitutes, I was checking out their clothes. :P

Then we saw this tall female prostitute. She was wearing a transparent black fishnet dress and nothing else!! My cousin brother who's 7 by the way, started laughing hysterically along with the rest of us and shouted, "Eeee! Look at that woman!! Faster take picture!" His parents must be crazy for bringing him along.

Ahem. Moving on...

Singapore has delicious food. Don't get me wrong; KL has tons of them I know. But certain stuff are only found in Singapore.
Such as the infamous American 'mamak stall' known as Botak Jones, which serves authentic American dishes at reasonable prices.

Fish & chips served with cheese.

And there's a Chinese dessert shop in Bugis called "Ji De Chi". In direct translation, it means "Remember To Eat." They serve ginger milk, creamy durian pudding (for durian lovers), glutinous rice balls and syrup, and plenty more.

Ahhh I'm hungry.
I need to prepare my speech now. Blogging has consumed one hour from me, thanks to the pictures. It took me at least five minutes to upload a single picture.

To end this, I'll introduce you to two of my adorable cousin sisters.

Kelly (5 years old) with her trophies for her artwork at the back.
She's a potential artist! :)

Yan Yan. Only 1 year old, I think.
SO cute.
