Flight

I finished packing my stuff 10 minutes ago.
My parents are more concerned about the procedures than I am.

It's my first time flying abroad.
And it's also my first time flying solo.

I feel a mixture of nerves and excitement.
Anticipation is racing through the veins.

I've always been saying that I really need a long holiday, and now the day has arrived.
This is by far my biggest break of the year, and I'm so grateful for it :)

Melbourne, here I come!

PS: I'm on a holiday =)

WORK!

I worked for the 100 Plus roadshow that was held at Times Square last weekend.
It was awfully tiring but I'm gonna be awesomely paid. (Rm10 an hour!)

June worked for an event management company which helped organized the 100 Plus event. That's how I came to know about the job. On Friday, both of us were driven downtown by a hippy guy named Randy. Randy's cool. He's got all these interesting tattoos all over his body.

Porn in the FLESH.

He said he got inspired by those fantasy characters... elves, mermaids, etc.

Spot the mermaid.

We went to Bukit Bintang to hand out flyers to promote the event. Just the three of us and 5000 copies of flyers.
Flyer distribution is not as easy as it sounds. You got to be thick-skinned and bold to approach people you don't want to approach. Accept rejection. Fake a big smile even when your feet are killing you. Repeat the similar sentences over and over again. By the end of the day, we were really tired. We only managed to hand out around 1000 copies in total - that left us with another 4000 more, which were carried forward to the next day.

On Saturday, the roadshow begun. The whole idea of the event was to promote 100Plus and to emphasize that 100Plus makes you energized and athletic. Or something like that. June and I were among the 20 part timers there, and the boss paired all of us up alphabetically. My partner was this guy named Boo Deyond.

"Looks like he's playing with a teddy bear", June said.

Saturday was exhausting. There were a lot of people at the mall and not to mention, a lot who joined in the games. So we part timers had a lot to do. We hardly had time for food breaks. The boss forbid us from chatting among ourselves, or talking on the phone, even if the call was an emergency. The slightest mistake really ticked him off and he yelled at his subordinates. Well, nobody liked him. He's one of those big guys who thinks that just because he's in power, everyone else should be treated like dogs.
I just don't think that's the way bosses should treat their workers. Someone should strip him from his high horse one day.

On Sunday, June and I were stationed to sell drinks :) That was a pretty easy job. And I liked it. We all worked from 10 am to 10 pm on both days. While I working, I got to know the other part timers. They were really nice people.

Some of the part timers.

Vicki/Along/Noraini.
Those are her names.

On Saturday, I thought I heard someone calling her "Vicki" so ever since then, I started calling her that too. Then she told me her name was Along (In Chinese, that means loanshark). Her actual name is Noraini.

I've been busy with university applications and air ticketing stuff. I still haven't applied for universities yet because I'm thinking of doing Linguistics (specially in the English language) but the university that I had in mind (UCA) didn't seem to have it :( Soooo... I'm still looking around.

Tomorrow there's gonna be a big BBQ session at church. Will be heading to Carrefour after this with Rox and Maka for grocery shopping.

And I'm flying to Melbourne on MONDAY! (24/8/09) Will be back on MONDAY! (14/9/09)

can't wait for that! :)

Bruised & Pierced

On Tuesday (11/8/09), I went for Paintball with college friends. We went to TT Sports Park at Subang, the largest paintball park in Malaysia. I was nervous because this was my first attempt at paintball. There were 14 of us and we were divided into 2 groups:
Me. Pei Wen. May Ling. Nate. Benjamin. Justin. Brandon.

Richard. Daya. Casey. Kenzie. Jasmine. Pui Mun. Li Ying.

They should call it Pain Ball.
Well, I shot Casey in the arm. And left a nice impression there...
Sorry, tough guy.

Well, I got shot 5 times. One between the fingers (the skin burst), one on the arm, two on the leg and one on my bum. LOL.
I mean, OUCHHH.
To be honest, it hurt like hell. There's a degree of pain for every shot. If the pellet is fired from a distance, it'll feel like someone threw a snooker ball at you. It's painful, but bearable.
You just get a round bruise like this. That's what I call the standard bruise. People say it takes about a week to go off.

But if you're unluckily close to your opponent and he fires at you... then...

The bruise is just one big patch of PAIN.

Beware of wounds too.

I raised my hand in a sign of surrender, and this was what I got -.-

Paintball is a dangerous game. But it's really fun once you get the hang of it, and if you know how to defend yourself properly. Lol.
How long til the bruises heal? I'm thinking of doing this again next time :)
Definitely when the bruises are gone.

To sum the day up, I got Bruised!

On Wednesday (12/8/09), I went to Pyramid with Nate, Pei Wen, KT and Casey. First, we went for Korean BBQ, then we watched G.I. Joe. The movie was much better than I expected :) The graphics, the action and the storyline deserve a thumbs up. I'd say this movie beats Terminator Salvation anytime!
Needless to mention, Channing Tatum looked real good in there.
PS: I liked it better than Transformers.

After the movie, I went to pierce my ears. Haha. I'd been wanting to pierce them since I was 17, so yesterday I finally made up my mind and had them pierced. Yup, I got Pierced! But it wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Maybe because I just experienced 5 major shots on my body on Tuesday, two minor ones didn't hurt that much. Lol.

The purple one's new :)

The piercing process was really quick. The girl sprayed cold stuff on my right earlobe, told me not to move, then she held the piercing gun up to the ear and hit the trigger. Bang! Within a second, there was a shining purple stud there. She did the same to my other ear.
So, currently I have 4 piercings.

Casey and KT

Right after the piercing, I felt like a different person for a while. I guess when you do something like that to yourself, like getting a tattoo or a new piercing, you feel a sense of satisfaction and a new wave of adrenalin rush. Haha. I felt like that. And I'm thinking of getting another set of piercing some other time... also on the ears. So it would be like a line of three shiny studs per ear, instead of two. 3's my favorite number by the way.

I've been going out to Pyramid ALOT lately. Today was my third time going there this week. I went for lunch with Nick Wong.

He's leaving for California this Sunday. And I don't know when I'll see him again. So many people are flying off this month :(

I'll be working in KL this weekend with June, starting tomorrow. The pay's pretty good, so I'm taking the job. It's for a 3-day event. Will update once that's over. :)

Stay-At-Home Monday

Yeah, it's stay-at-home Monday for me :(

Last week I've been going out to Pyramid a lot. Once you've walked the mall more than 3 times a week, things tend to get a little boring there.

My parents are pretty skeptical about me going out these days due to the increase in H1N1 cases in Subang. That's why I had to turn down a canoeing invitation :( I miss canoe-ing! Haha it's also called kayaking. I've only tried it once, and that was at some leadership camp in a rural area when I was 13.

I was in the boat with a friend and we were both noobs at this. For the first five minutes, our boat didn't budge an inch because we weren't rowing correctly. It's the whole concept of Physics... when someone rows forward and the other person rows backward, the boat just stays put. We kinda got lost in the river. But thankfully we found our way back to the dock.

Since it's stay-at-home Monday today, I'll just be a good girl and see what I can do at home today. Hmmm.

Watch TV, maybe? :) Later on, I'll blog about work.

Daynah Muh Naynah

This goes out to a very dear friend of mine whom I've known since high school, but gotten to know better since college :)

She's a great girl bursting with creativity and her own uniqueness. Daynah-ness. Lol. I remember some of the really random moments we had. There was a time during Psychology class and she was practically freezing, so during our break time we went to Starbucks because she wanted to get a hot coffee for the warmth. We went back to the icy cold classroom, and her coffee turned cold within minutes. So much for that :)

But she's the one who made me feel like it is totally okay to splurge my weekly savings on a Starbucks drink. Because the coffee's delicious and you can never get the same taste anywhere else, especially not in that white paper cup with the Starbucks logo printed on it :D

She came to class one day dressed in black from head to toe. Who died? Nobody. She was just mourning David Archuleta's loss on the American Idol. I remember how she used to be such an ardent Archuleta fan, and now she's suddenly crazy over Kris Allen.

I still think she was influenced to go to UCA because he studies there. -.-
The man's married!!!
Stop hitting on people's husband =p

Ahem. So, as I was saying. =)
I'm so gonna miss all her randomness and Daynah-ness once she's gone. And she's leaving tonight.

Babe, you're probably already in Arkansas when you see this, but anyway, I just wanted you to know that I really do miss you and all the silly + fun moments we had when you were around. In many ways, you actually reminded me of how simple life can actually be, if we want it to be that way. You make impulsive decisions based on your quirky feeling at the spur of the moment, and that's one of the many things that makes you a great hang out buddy! :)

Oh and while you're there - do let me know how things are.
GET TWITTER!!!
and GET SKYPE too!!! :)
And you totally have to try out the Fried Mushrooms at Tony Romas. They're worth every penny ;)

And well, just enjoy yourself over there!
If it gets too cold, grab a hot Starbucks latte :D Just pray the weather doesn't sabotage it.

I miss you loads!

Finals

If I had blogged last night, it would be one hell of a tormented post.

I was rushing to cram 2 subjects into my head before the night ended. I can't stay up til midnight studying because when I get really sleepy, I lose total concentration. Nothing goes in.

So I got up early this morning to study for Sociology and Interpersonal Communications. Both papers were today; only one hour apart. I went to the library before the exam started. Vinod came by after his Statistics exam to study with me. Then we headed to the exam hall to face our fate.

The paper was really tough. We had to brainstorm over 6 essays and 30 MCQs with a limited time of 2 hours. I couldn't take my eyes off the clock. Plus I was sitting directly beneath the air cond, so my fingers went numb within 30 minutes and I had to force my way through the essays.

Anyway, once that paper was over, we were delayed for 20 minutes because the examiners detected that someone hadn't handed in his/her paper so they wanted to do a headcount. Turned out that they made a mistake during calculation, so it was their fault. And they made us wait that long for nothing. =.=

So I spent the next 40 minutes poring over the notes for my next paper. Vinod was nice enough to buy me a bun for my lunch, cuz I didn't have time to run downstairs to eat. By the time I went back into the examination hall, I was really tired. And it was another difficult paper. Another 6 essays and 30 MCQs. And the worse thing was, my brain shut down at the wrong time.

I didn't know how to do 3 of the essays. So I had to crap my way through. I only went as far as three to four lines. Then I couldn't think of anything else to say. That's the suckiest feeling when you take an exam; you studied so hard for that moment, but when the moment comes, you can't remember a thing you studied. Another sucky thing was that the 3 essays I couldn't answer weighed 10 marks each.

Sighh. Was seriously half-dead by the time I left the hall. Thought I could ace this paper, but I'm not too sure about that anymore. I should be feeling really disappointed and sad because of what happened in there; 30 marks is alot to say goodbye to, you know?

But I still couldn't feel anything. I felt indifferent. And I still feel quite indifferent. Maybe it'll take a while to sink in. Anyway, I'm done with my finals. I'm not exactly in the mood to celebrate. It feels like a typical Monday to me. And I'm tired. Really tired.

Did I mention that this is my last semester at college?

Well, yeah. I won't be around next semester. Will be applying for some American universities soon. (Still looking). I took some pictures of my final week at college. Will post them on Facebook - not to mention, the pictures of the AUP Seniors' Farewell night :)

Will post some here too. For now, I think I need a nice, warm shower and a pillow to cuddle in front of the PC and watch How I Met Your Mother Season 2!
