The Birthday Babe

My lovely best friend turns 19 today!

I was out with her and June yesterday. We went to Pyramid, did some shopping and had lunch at Papa John's. The food was alright. Pretty much similar to Pizza Hut's, actually. But it was a nice change from the usual dining ins at TGIF, Tony Romas and Itallianies.

We did more shopping after lunch, then watched A Christmas Carol in 3D. I loved the animation and the ending. It was quite a good movie, and if you liked The Ghost of Girlfriends Past, you might like this one. It also put me in the Christmas mood. Haha. Christmas is a whole month away though!

Anyway, I had a great time with my besties yesterday. It was so nice catching up and talking about what we used to do and all that. I mean it's been so long since we all went out together.

Specially to the birthday babe:
Thanks for being a great friend to me all these years since high school. You have always been there for me, through the good times and bad ones. I don't know what I'd have done without you. And thanks for all the awesome moments we shared together. You're such a funny and wonderful shopping buddy :D For teaching me when to save my money and when not to. For being so patient. Haha. The list goes on! But yes, we shall go for a total shopping spree again when we've saved up enough money. :) I remember spending all my money in one day with you and June, and I came back totally broke, but with all my shopping bags and a big smile on my face. Shopping only feels that way with you two. And above all, you've helped me alot and been such a blessing to me. I can't thank you enough for that =) Remember that I'll always be here when you need me, just as how you've always been there for me when I needed you. I love you!

HAVE A GREAT BIRTHDAY, GORGEOUS!
You deserve it!

The Wait

I've been waiting so long for this moment to arrive.
And now, it seems like I'm finally getting something.

I don't know the answer yet.

But I know it will be worth the wait.

I Miss You

Life feels different without college. No more classes, no more assignments, no more exams, no more frequent lunch-ing sessions and random trips to Face to Face. And yep, no more indulging in Starbucks one hour before a big exam.

People are leaving. One by one.
Most of them have already left, and are now residing in different parts of the world.
Sigh. Lately I've been thinking back to my first few semesters at college, when everyone I knew was still around.
College life would not have been the same without you.

I miss you people so much, and I hope you're doing well over there. No matter what you're facing, I'm sure you'll gain something great out of it. In case the going gets tough, know that you're never alone.

Wherever you are, you'll always be in my heart! :)

And to the ones who will be leaving to USA in like, next month, I wish you all the best in your fresh new future.

Thanks for the memories. :)

May your tears come from laughing
You find friends worth having
With every year passing
They mean more than gold.
May you win and stay humble
Smile more than grumble

And know when you stumble

You're never alone.

Revealed

Say Hello to your new face, dear blog.

You're going to live with it until I find a better one.

It took me hours just to settle on this layout. I'm not so pleased with the dullness of the design, but I'm just too lazy to change it again.

I realized that I haven't blogged about the mysterious woman in white that came to the shop a few weeks back. I mentioned this a few posts ago, and now I finally have the ending!

1) Who was she?
On Saturday, the boss' daughter dropped by to introduce us to some new Christmas products that we'd be selling soon. She was very nice, and when she saw me, she said, "You must be Carissa? I've heard about you."

I smiled feebly. What did she hear?!

"Last month you all had a mystery shopper, right?" she winked at me. "Do you know who I'm talking about?"

"Yeah," I said. "I knew she wasn't just an ordinary shopper."

"You're right. She's actually the owner of Bloop in Malaysia."

I knew it!

2) What did she say?
"Don't worry," the boss' daughter said when she saw my expression. "She said that you were good. You were very knowledgeable on the products and you also gave very good service. Who trained you?"

"Dina."

She turned to Dina and smiled. "Well done. You did a good job."

Phew! :)

I was really relieved to hear that.
It was a good ending after all.

Phobia 2

It's12.30 am and I can't sleep.

I just watched Phobia 2 at Sunway Pyramid with my collegemates. And oh my gawd it was one heck of a movie. It's a Thai horror movie, created by the directors of The Shutter and Alone.

It was horribly gruesome and there was a lot of suspense. Most of the time, I wanted to shield my ears and eyes. I was seated between Su Teng and Benny. Su Teng was laughing half the time, and Benny seemed to know the storyline better than all of us.

It was gross! But then again, what's a Thai horror movie without blood, gore, overdramatic sound effects and negative endings? Lol. The good people always die... and the process of death isn't simple, clean and quick. It's a horrifying journey of screams and blood and you know the rest. Ewww?

But I have to say this: you must watch Phobia 2. There are 5 different stories in this movie. I'm not going to spoil it for you, but I'll tell you one thing: I loved the last 30 minutes of the movie.

So for the sake of the last 30 minutes, you should watch the movie. =D Trust me, it's not an ordinary horror movie. At least, not the last 30 minutes.

Vivi, it was GREAT seeing you today even if it was just for 5 minutes! :D
Pei Wen, thanks for the company! I had fun =) And lunch was yummy. I miss the Carribean Fish @ Secret Recipe!
Su Teng, Pui Mun, Benny and Shean, Wasn't it cool replacing dinnertime with dessert? And I enjoyed watching Phobia 2 with you all! :D I'm so gonna miss you guys when you leave for the States in December. :(

Seeing my collegemates again today brought back so much good memories.
But the ironic thing is that they're all going to different parts of the States and I'm ... going to Australia.
Just maybe. I've already applied to several Australian universities, and now I'm just waiting for their replies.

If Aussie doesn't work out, I'll just fly to either USA or Canada or even New Zealand, for that matter.

It's 12.49 am now. Time for bed, I guess?

Goodnight.

The Simple Truth

What's the secret to being happy?

Bask in the good moments a little longer.

Focus on your strengths, not weaknesses.

Count your blessings, and keep counting them.

Invest in worthy investments. (eg: shoes, clothes, phones)

Be who you are.

When you're not trying hard to gain others' approval or to be "per-fect", things seem a lot easier.

Happiness comes when you're comfortable in your own skin, because you have a strong sense of who you are and you don't need others to define you.

You're perfect the way you are.
