And now I do.
For our Sociology group assignment, we're required to pick a movie and analyze it critically through the various theories taught in class. So I had a very good reason to plant myself in front of the TV this week :) I watched two DVDs chosen by my group mates; The Boy In The Striped Pajamas and The World Unseen.
The Boy In The Striped Pajamas is a story of an innocent 8-year-old boy named Bruno, whose father is the chief commandant of the German Army during World War 2. So they move to the countryside when the dad gets promoted, and Bruno befriends a Jewish boy on the other side of the fence, thinking that his new friend lives on a farm. Little does he know, the "farm" is actually an extermination camp for Jews.
I loved the way the story was being projected, especially through the eyes of an innocent child.
This is a must-watch!
The World Unseen isn't my type of movie, to be honest. It's about two young women who fall in love under very complicated circumstances. But this movie tackles strong issues like racism, chauvinism and so forth.
I think Sociology is pretty linked to Psychology; and it also taps on sensitive issues that Psychology doesn't cover much about, like the truth about gender disorders, racism and socialization.

Social acceptance of homosexuals still has a long way to go, and its true that's it not only their sexuality but other social aspects of poverty, legal equality and employment which need attention.
