Life in Baridon

These are tangible facts about living in an American dorm.

1) You have to check the laundry room if there is an available laundry/dryer, then RUSH upstairs, get your laundry, and RUSH downstairs so that you make it there before anyone else does.
2) Suddenly, things like free wifi, a fridge, a microwave and TV become so desirable.
3) You share a bathroom with several other girls and you're lucky if they're hygienic.
4) You can't have your own private room anymore.
5) Occasionally, there will be people yelling at each other in the hallway, or blasting music past midnight, or singing out-of-tune, or getting drunk/high and waking the entire floor up at 2am.
6) Cooking isn't so convenient anymore when you have to share a tiny kitchen with hundreds of people.
7) You start wishing you had a car so you won't have to spend most of your meals at the Food Court or the cafeteria.
8) When you live on the 3rd floor, you have to walk all the way downstairs and out of the building to throw your trash. Every single time.
9) No, you don't have a dishwasher.
10) You consider yourself lucky if you have nice housemates.

Now, here's how I view it.

1) I do my laundry once a week, so I don't suffer the frustration of having to wait too long for an available laundry/dryer often.
2) Once I get a fridge, microwave and free wifi in my room, I'll be the happiest girl in Baridon! We already have a TV in the living room.
3) My bathroom is only shared among the 3 of us, so it's not a problem.
4) I have the room to myself most of the time because my roomie does her work in the living room.
5) Crazy people living down the hall? Yeah, that's dorm life. I'll get used to it.
6) Cooking? I'll just hope that someone isn't using the stove when I want to cook noodles.
7) As much as I'm a little bored of the food at the cafe and food court, I must admit that the sushi, subways at the Food court and some of the stuff at the cafeteria are pretty darn good.
8) I throw the trash once a week. Sometimes two. Haha. But it's no big deal. Exercise is good.
9) I barely need a dishwasher.
10) My housemates? Yeah they're nice :)

I'm getting used to my new life here in Baridon. It's a convenient spot - really close to the bookstore, the library, the food court & cafeteria and it's not too far from some of my classes.

I like it here.
